"A Passion for Teaching...A Passion for the Music"
Welcome! My name is Don Price. I am a guitarist & music teacher, a graduate of the Dick Grove School of Music. In my teaching capacity I was a faculty member for the Guitar Activity Center, plus 10 years at Sacramento City College in the Music Department, as well as numerous music shops, doing clinics in jazz guitar & gypsy jazz. I have been a member of the Guitar Teacher’s Referral List for the University of Southern California since 1987. My music group Jazz Gitan has performed regionally since 2005 and held workshops at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival as well as performing at Djangofest SF 2011. Back in 1998 I launched the first website in America specifically dedicated to this style of swing jazz, called gypsyjazzguitar.com (no longer active). I also launched the early on Yahoo e-group dedicated to spreading the word on the first Djangofest in 2001, the time I first met Robin Nolan. With over 3,000 members worldwide it was considered the hub of contact for gypsy jazz players & fans globally. Since then I have created a global connection with the gypsyjazzguitar facebook page where we now have over 4,000+ members. With a career of 40 years I've had the honor and privilege of both knowing & learning from guitar masters Hank Garland, Pat Martino, Joe Pass, Joe Diorio, Frank Gambale, Jimmy Bruno, Frank Vignola, Larry Coryell, and Stochelo Rosenberg.
This Website is dedicated to helping all levels of players who wish to learn and share their love of Jazz Guitar in the syle of Django Reinhardt! I hope to share freely the knowledge & insights I've gathered over time, with the idea of inspiring you and helping you by giving you tools for creation. The plan here is to create an interactive experience, with the idea of posting video tutorials based on your blog requests, so don't hesitate to connect with me if you have any questions or suggestions regarding the material or this website. I look forward to hearing from you.
